message queue choice rabbitmq vs kafka for event streaming

hey everyone, i'm wrestling with a common architectural decision for an upcoming project. were building a system that will involve a lot of real-time event processing and need to choose a message queue. both RabbitMQ and Kafka are on the table. RabbitMQ seems great for traditional queuing patterns and flexible routing, but Kafkas strength in log-based streaming and high throughput for event sourcing is compelling. for those who have used both extensively, what factors should i prioritize when making this choice for an event streaming use case? any specific pitfalls to watch out for with either in this context?
