service discovery, client-side or server-side

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out service discovery for our microservices as we scale up. Right now, we're doing client-side discovery, and honestly, the client seems to be doing way too much work and getting pretty complicated. Has anyone switched from client-side to server-side discovery? What made you do it, and what were the tough parts? I'm also interested in hearing about experiences with tools like Consul or Eureka, no matter which discovery method you used.
