load balancers sticky sessions vs stateless design

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about how we handle user sessions in distributed systems. When using load balancers, you often see options for sticky sessions, also called session affinity, or going for a completely stateless backend. What do you all think about the pros and cons? When does sticking with sticky sessions make sense, and when is it truly worth the effort to architect for a stateless approach from the start? I'm really curious to hear about your experiences and what you think works best.
