message queues, should you use kafka or rabbitmq

hey folks ive been wrestling with choosin the right message queue for a new project weve got a few services that need to communicate asynchronously and potentially handle big event streams ive used rabbitmq a bit in the past for simpler task queues and it worked well but im seein kafka mentioned everywhere for higher throughput and stream processin scenarios whats your experience when do you find kafka indispensable and when is rabbitmq or somethin else a better fit lookin for practical advice on throughput durability ease of management and use cases thanks
