how do u handle data consistency across microservices tho

keeping data consistent across services when things change has been a real headache for us. like, eventual consistency works okay sometimes, but for the really important stuff, it's getting tough. what have you guys found that works well for keeping data solid in a distributed microservices setup without slowing everything down to a crawl? any specific methods or tools you swear by?
