We've been discussing scaling databases and APIs quite a bit, but I'm wondering about the trade-offs with consistency models. When does an eventual consistency approach actually start to make sense in a distributed system, you know? Are there particular kinds of data or application needs where it's obviously a good idea, or does it usually just mean the system is already struggling to scale?
