anyone using vector databases for search? dont see much talk about it.

thinking about adding semantic search to our huge product catalog. i've seen tons of talk about vector databases like Pinecone, Weaviate, and Milvus. anyone actually used these in production for search, though? what was it like? any surprises or advice on making them faster? just wondering if it's way too much for what we need, compared to good old full-text search with some smart indexing.
