when do you pull the trigger on a distributed tracing system?

Weve been seeing some weird latency spikes in our microservices. Its getting hard to pinpoint where the requests are actually getting slowed down. Weve got logs, but correlating them across services feels like a chore. When did you all decide it was time to implement something like Jaeger or Zipkin? What was the tipping point for you
