cloud infrastructure for microservices, should you go bare metal or use managed services?

hey ppl ive been thinkin a lot abt the infra behind our microservices weve always run a lot on bare metal or our own vms in the cloud but with managed stuff like aws lambda fargate or even managed k8s it feels like we could dump a ton of operational hassle what was your experience when does it make sense to keep more control with vms and when is it better to go all in on managed services for your microservices setup
