When to use eventual consistency vs strong consistency?

were designing a new ecommerce feature and hitting a common debate, how consistent does our data prob need to be. For things like inventory updates, we prob need strong consistency. But for displaying related products or user recommendations, eventual consistency seems fine and might offer better performance. whats your gut check for deciding between these two. are there specific patterns or data types you always map to one or the other
