Microservice communication: Sync vs. Async

Hey everyone, I've been struggling with how different microservices should actually communicate. For some tasks, synchronous calls seem easy enough, but then you get into coupling problems and those awful cascading failures. Going async with message queues feels more stable, though dealing with eventual consistency and debugging can be a real headache. So, what's your usual approach for most service-to-service talk? Are there any patterns you absolutely love, or ones you steer clear of?
