so, when should you actually start using CQRS

hey everyone, ive been wrestling w some scaling challenges in a few of our read-heavy services. were seeing a lot of contention on our primary databases. im starting to think about command query responsibility segregation (cqrs) as a potential solution, but it feels like a pretty big architectural shift. has anyone here successfully implemented cqrs for similar issues? what were the biggest hurdles you faced, and what were the key benefits you realized? curious to hear your experiences before i propose this
