Distributed Locks: Which implementation should we use for our microservice architecture?

hey everyone,
so, we're setting up some new microservices and we're at this tricky spot where we need to make sure only one service instance does this one important thing at a time. we've been checking out distributed locks, but honestly, there are a ton of ways to handle it. like, should we use Redis, ZooKeeper, or just build something ourselves?
what has worked well for you all? or have you run into problems with distributed locks when things are always changing and scaling up and down? any favorite ways of doing it, or libraries you like
