microservices, how do you deal with the delay when services talk to each other

hey everyone, i'm working on a microservices setup with a bunch of services that need to chat all the time. we did some caching, but honestly, there's still lag on some really important stuff. what do you guys do to cut down on how much services have to talk to each other, besides just caching? any particular tricks that actually worked for you? would love to hear what you've tried!
