blob store or file system for user content

hey folks, i've been wrestling with a common problem lately, where to store user-generated content like images and videos. on one hand, a traditional file system, like NFS or even local disk on app servers if scaled carefully, feels straightforward, especially for simpler applications. but blob stores, like S3 or Azure Blob Storage, are designed for this, offering scalability and durability. whats your experience? when have you found one approach better than the other, and what were the key trade-offs you encountered, like cost, complexity, performance for reads/writes, or integration with other services?
