When should we think about using WebSockets?

Hey everyone, I've been giving real-time features some serious thought lately. We've got a few ideas that would really shine with instant updates, you know, like showing live user counts on posts and sending notifications right away. Right now, we're using polling, and honestly, it's starting to feel a bit clunky. When did you all decide to switch from polling or other methods to WebSockets? What were the main reasons or specific situations that made it a clear winner for your setup?
