Distributed tracing, is it really worth the extra work for microservices?

hey folks im thinkin bout doin distributed tracing for our microservices architecture tho it seems super useful for debuggin complex request flows and understandin performance bottlenecks across services on the other hand the instrumentation and maybe performance overhead kinda worry me how have others handled this did u find the benefits were worth the costs
