load balancer strategies for high-traffic APIs? dont you think?

hey ppl, im buildin a new serv thatll get some crazy traffic sometimes. im thinkin bout diff load balancin ways besides basic round-robin. anyone had luck w/ least connections, weighted round-robin, or even cooler stuff like consistent hashing for certain jobs? wanna know bout real perf and any issues to look out for when gettin bigger
