monitoring distributed systems, should you go with metrics, logs, or traces

hey folks, i've been thinking about our observability stack. we're scaling out our microservices and the sheer volume of data is just getting overwhelming, you know? we're currently drowning in logs, but i'm not sure if that's really the best way to debug stuff. should we focus more on metrics for high-level health, logs for detailed events, or distributed tracing to follow requests all the way through? what's your team doing to get actionable insights without getting completely buried in data
