When should you introduce a service mesh?

hey folks, I've been thinking a lot about microservices lately. We're getting to a point where managing inter-service communication, especially with things like retries, load balancing, and tracing, is becoming a big overhead for individual teams. I'm curious about when others have found it most beneficial to introduce a service mesh like Istio or Linkerd. What were the tipping points for your organization? Any war stories or best practices would be super helpful.
