api gateway: sidecar or centralized? i'm not sure which is better, honestly.

Hey everyone, I've been mulling over the best way to set up an API Gateway. My main hang-up is the deployment. Do you guys like having one central gateway service, or do you prefer putting a sidecar next to each of your own services? I've heard good points about both sides, especially when you look at how complicated things get, how fast it runs, and keeping it all in good shape. What's worked for you, and what makes you pick one way over the other depending on the situation?
