Cache Stampede: How do you stop that from happening?

hey folks, thinking about caching strategies and the dreaded 'cache stampede' problem popped into my head. when a popular cache key expires, and a ton of requests hit the database simultaneously, things can get dicey. what are your go-to methods for mitigating this? are you using locking mechanisms, probabilistic early expiration, or something else entirely
