limiting rates for microservices, should it be one central spot or spread out? i dont know, maybe a typo here.

hey everyone, i'm trying to figure out the best way to implement rate limiting for our microservices architecture. should we have a central rate limiter service that all requests go through, or is a distributed approach with clients managing their own limits more feasible? what are the pros and cons you've seen in practice?
